MISSIONAL COMMUNITIES DEFINED
A Missional Community (MC) is a committed core of believers who live out the mission of God together in a specific area or to a particular people group by demonstrating the gospel in tangible forms and declaring the gospel to others – both those who believe it and those who are being exposed to it.
To Clarify…A Missional Community is not PRIMARILY:
- A Small Group
- A Bible Study
- A Support Group
- A Social Activist Group
- A Weekly Meeting

Drew Goodmanson serves as CEO of Monk Development and is co-founder/pastor at Kaleo Church. Monk is an Internet strategy and development company. Monk created Ekklesia 360 which is used by thousands of churches and ministries. Drew often speaks at conferences about how churches/ministries can use the Internet, his blog is recognized as one of the Top Church Blogs and he wrote a chapter in Voices of the Virtual World: Participative Technology and the Ecclesial Revolution. Kaleo Church is a missional community, multi-site church planting movement in San Diego, CA. Drew spends much of his time thinking about church planting, web missiology and being a husband and father of two (Gideon & Roman). More about Drew Goodmanson.
Drew - we at the Austin Stone (www.austinstone.org) are developing VERY similar visions, strategies, tools and resources. I would love to talk/email more and share ideas and tools beyond the blog.
Right now I’m blogging on what it means to build a movement of missional communities. I’d love your input as well.

are the different categories referred to in the document - servants, family, missionaries, etc. discussed elsewhere? I didn’t really see an explanation there.
