Drew, I'm part of the 'guys in St. Augustine' Captain Kirk is talking about. Thanks for the inspiring-ly good summary of what Porterbrook is all about.

Well your name made me think of it. I'm close to finishing it now so it has been on my mind. The author won the noble prize in literature for it in 1928. It deals with life and faith in medieval Norway. One review said it is not so much a Christian novel as a novel in which the heroine's Christian faith is the crux of her story. I think a Christian Norseman like you might like it. Not at all like today's Christian fiction! It has love and danger, passion and violence faith and failure, Viking types and monks honesty about life and well-written…. And It will last you a while cause it's big but I remembered you like big books

There is an excellent new translation out :http://www.norway.org/ARCHIVE/culture/literature/nunnally/

Through an unusual set of circumstances I had dinner last night with Francis Chan. He described the need for and his desire to see a mean for missional training developed for launching church-planting movements. I asked him if he had heard of Porter Brook. He had not. I told him a little about Porter brook and how much it sounded like what he was wanting to develop. The main difference was he had the idea using dvd of well-known teachers as an element in the training.

It's always encouraging to see the good work you are doing.

Peace and Strength, Larry

Hey Drew, We're launching Porterbrook too. We (Christ Community Daytona) are in a fledgling network with some guys from St. Augustine. My eldest son is heading it up at our church. We're all pretty enthused about it. On a different note have you ever read Kristin Lavransdatter by Sigrid Undset?
