Any progress on a co-op or school for christian classical education. Currently we homeschool two children, ages 6 and 9, with a desire for a classical education. I'm not certain how well we're doing, but it would be nice to find some other like minded individuals. Our resources are very limited in SD with the exception of Fritz's classes in Escondido. I live next to the Mexico border, so I'd really like something a bit more central.

Dear Mr. Goodmason,

I ran across you blog here while looking for sites on classical education in San Diego. I'm familiar with ETS, but was wondering if you've come across any more formal arrangments?

Best regards,
TM

I heard about Classical Educatoin from my current Pastor who used to teach at a Classical school in Florida. Is the Classical Christian Education you guys are talking about also using the Trivium? When I heard about this style of teaching/learning it makes so much sense and I really began wondering why everyone is not taught this way. After struggling through the typical US education system as a kid I really do not want that for my children. Other than Home Schooling are there any Classical options in San Diego at this time? My wife and I have a little one due in Dec. so I guess it is never too early to prepare for this stuff.

Unfortunately, we don't have a Classical Christian School near us - that would be our first option. God bless on the adoption man! Where are you at in the process?

Cool Joe. My wife and I are adopting right now as well. Sounds like we'll have to share notes as we get to that point of education. A couple families are home schooling now, and a Classical Christian teacher (from the East Coast) just moved here and wants to start a school in San Diego.

Drew,

We have two children and are now in the process of adopting a baby from China. Our plans have been classical Christian education at home, though that may develop into something more collective. Our oldest, Katherine, is four, Elias is 1 1/2. The child we adopt will be just under one year old. We'll play it one year at a time, but we have read and prayed a lot, and spoke with other families who have done the same. One of the families at our church (7 kids) has done this and we are resourcing them as well.
