Church Planting, Technology & Culture

I’m taking my wife to New York for a week to celebrate our anniversary. If you had a week in NY, what would you make sure to do?

Drew is an elder/pastor at Kaleo Church and CEO of Monk Development. Kaleo is a church planting movement in San Diego. Drew spends much of his time thinking about church planting strategy, web missiology and being a husband and father of two (Gideon & Roman). More about Drew Goodmanson.

Leave it to the fat guy to make this suggestion, but I have only been to New York once, and in addition to all the great shows we saw, we had a blast at The Carnegie Deli (and the food was amazing). If I think of more, I’ll let you know.
go for a walk through central park and buy a hot dog from a vendor.
everyone loves hotdogs.
I lived in New York for two years back in the nineties. If you like road trips, take a drive over the George Washington Bridge, up the Palisades Parkway, to Bear Mountain. There’s a beautiful lodge there, and a view from the top of the mountain. On a clear day you can even see NY city.
From Bear Mountain you can follow Hwy 9 North to Poughkeepsie and beyond.
I lived in a little town called Garrison, which is just a couple miles from Bear Mountain. I worked at a 12 month drug rehab program and used the drive up hwy 9 as a destresser from a tense environment. It’s very beautiful, and you’ll even find it in many travel litereatures as a beautiful drive.
