Wow, those comments are suprising. I've seen blogs criticizing him for not being "Emergent enough." Many think that Mars Hill is too fundamental. I personally loved being at the Reformission conference last year and although I don't agree with everything he says, I love the balence he finds of speaking truth and relating to culture.

I'll be one of those applicants if I get the theological questionaire finished this weekend. I'm having trouble writing down my philosophy of ministry. I have never really had to and I'm kind of lost on it. Any help?

I'll be there! I'm also going to be assessing applicants. I'm really looking forward to it - it's going to be a great bootcamp.

Michael,

Cool, you'll also meet my co-elder (David Fairchild) and Mark Moore both A29 pastors. (Bill are you going to be there too?)

David will be assessing a29 applicants and Mark will be leading some sessions...

I have yet to meet Driscoll, though I probably will in a couple if weeks in Dallas, and I find what he is saying as thoroughly orthodox. I think a lot of those making the comments on Challies want to disagree with Driscoll because they perceive him as being "emergent." That, of course, is an incorrect assessment of Driscoll and The Radical Reformission.

It's been an interesting thing to watch so many people, who I'm not sure have even read the book, chime in with their opinions. Like you said, Tim does a pretty balanced job of review, but some of his readers don't get it. I've commented here and there, but tend to bite my tongue. But I keep going back to read more... like driving by a car wreck. Hope things are going well for you and David over at the original Kaleo!

Drew, I very much agree. I think Challies, for all his efforts, is missing the heart of the book. But I'm not really surprised having read him for a while. Culture is so scary for Christians, and any real contextualization seems unbiblical to some.
