Church Planting, Technology & Culture

Ok, this may sound crazy but I’m trying to create a new word. Add it to your dictionary, technagoraphobia. This is the fear of being in open places w/o technology. Example: John never would go camping with us because he couldn’t leave his Palm Pilot, cell phone, laptop and internet connection.
Agoraphobia
1. A morbid fear of open spaces (as fear of being caught alone in some public place).
Technagoraphobia
1. A morbid fear of open spaces without technology.
Know anyone who suffers from this?

Drew is an elder/pastor at Kaleo Church and CEO of Monk Development. Kaleo is a church planting movement in San Diego. Drew spends much of his time thinking about church planting strategy, web missiology and being a husband and father of two (Gideon & Roman). More about Drew Goodmanson.

You mean there are some people who don’t suffer from it?
Finally, a word to describe my disease. My internet went down a few weeks ago for a day and I nearly died from technagoraphobia.
My condition has only grown worse since I moved to Vancouver. The entire peninsula I live on is wireless. And in the absence of said wireless I have experienced some acute anxiety. However, once the initial panic of technagoraphobia has subsided, it kind of feels nice.
Hi Drew. Don’t know if you remember me but I was a good friend of Ty’s in college. I’ve enjoyed seeing the stuff you have on your site especially since it seems our spiritual migration parallels in several ways. As a word nerd myself, I applaud this new one you’ve coined, and believe you should contact the good folks at the OED immediately for inclusion. God bless. - Ben Keller
I won’t name names, but you know who you are!
